IN THE VALLEY: WINING, DINING AND NIGHT LIFE

WINERIES - Some of California's finest wines come from the valley's small neighboring wineries. Because of the exceptional quality of grapes grown in Sonoma Valley, it is a legally designated Appellation, or viticultural area. The 17-mile long Valley of the Moon is home to over 30 wineries. Most have tasting rooms and several offer excellent tours for those who want an inside look at the art of fine wine making.
RESTAURANTS - The quality and diversity of Sonoma Valley's restaurants keeps pace with it's wines, from trendy to traditional, classic to exotic, formal to portable. Much of what's served is grown or raised on small farms here in the county and the Sonoma Coast contributes fresh fish and shellfish, creating a paradise for both diners and chefs. Surrounding the Sonoma Plaza are more restaurants than one could possibly sample in a week. The small towns of Glen Ellen and Kenwood, both less than three miles away, have several extraordinary restaurants.
BAKERIES, CHEESE MAKERS, DELIS - Local bakeries, cheese makers and delis can help you create the picnic of your dreams.
LIVE MUSIC and MOVIES - Enjoying great food and wine isn't the only thing to do in evening. Live music can often be found and the charming, historic Sebastiani Theater on the plaza has a first rate selection of movies and small live performances. Or just come back to the Ranch, sit on the porch and watch the stars.
